The Victoria Sponge, painted directly onto the Farrow and Ball paint swatch for French Gray, is an original miniature painting by Rachel Spelling. This is a delicious cake - painting the jam is pure paradise - but there’s a hint of Hitchcock creeping in. Those shadows, that missing slice, no plate, no doily… This is a cake laced with mystery and suspense.

The painting is 2cm x 3cm and it is served on a strip of twelve beautiful colours from the iconic Farrow & Ball colour card, which measures 7.4cm x 21cm. It is sold unframed.

This miniature is signed and dated on the back and it will be accompanied by a signed and embossed certificate of authenticity.

The Victoria Sponge is part of the Greatest Hits range. These are the paintings with a colour / subject combination which I paint more than once, because they’re a dream to paint. The painting you buy might not be the exact one that is photographed here. Every single painting is subtly different of course, but you can be assured that I only let tip top paintings leave my studio, I am extremely strict about that. The paintings are ready when they start to sing a little song, and you can be sure that you will receive a singing Victoria Sponge!
