“I was stopped in my tracks by the combination of Cecil Beaton’s haunting portrait and the bold and brilliant graphic design of this Time magazine cover. This is the commemorative issue which appeared the week after the death of the Queen. I spent a quiet day painting it, and trying to capture the stillness, sadness and timelessness of the image. The shadow behind the magazine played a big part in conjuring the drama of realising that someone very familiar suddenly isn’t there any more. I painted a slight sheen on the cover; this is a real object lying on a table. It’s a portrait and a still life and a moment in time, all at once.”

The Time Cover, painted directly onto the Farrow and Ball colour chip for Pavilion Blue, is an original miniature painting by Rachel Spelling. The painting is 2cm x 3cm and it is served on a strip of twelve beautiful colours from the iconic Farrow and Ball colour card, which measures 7.4cm x 21cm. It is sold unframed.

The miniature is signed and dated on the reverse, and it will be accompanied by a signed and embossed certificate of authenticity.

UK delivery is £5.50 (Royal Mail Next Day Special Delivery, Signed For) and for the rest of the world is £15 (International Tracked Delivery).
