The Stamp, painted directly onto the Farrow and Ball paint swatch for St Giles Blue, is an original miniature painting by Rachel Spelling. The painting is 2cm x 3cm and it’s served on a strip of 12 beautiful colours from the iconic Farrow & Ball colour card, which measures 7.4cm x 21cm. It is sold unframed.

This miniature is signed and dated on the back and it will be accompanied by a signed and embossed certificate of authenticity.

I first painted The Stamp in June 2022 to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, and following her death I revisited it. It felt very different to be painting it this time. I see it now as an unsentimental portrait of the Queen; a quiet, familiar but mysterious image. A grand figure on a humble object, which is equally familiar. It’s a portrait and a still life at the same time, and is painted exactly the same size as a real second class stamp.

For this sale I have painted The Stamp six times; all are slightly different but all are top notch paintings.
