“The Wizard of Oz is a masterclass in the memorable use of colour. The moment when Dorothy lands in Oz, and the film bursts from sepia to glorious technicolour, must have been just mind-blowing in 1939 and it still takes my breath away today. For a while now I have been thinking about these paint chips as cinema screens, and I’ve been trying out cinematic techniques with crops, close-ups and lighting. And then I suddenly realised that they lend themselves perfectly to the rich visual language of a film’s end sequence! This painting is the first in the End series, and I will only paint it once.”

The End (The Wizard of Oz, 1939), painted directly onto the Farrow and Ball colour chip for London Stone, is an original miniature painting by Rachel Spelling. The painting is 2cm x 3cm and it is served on a strip of twelve beautiful colours from the iconic Farrow and Ball colour card, which measures 7.4cm x 21cm. It is sold unframed. This is a unique painting; there is only one.

The painting is signed and dated on the reverse, and it will be accompanied by a signed and embossed certificate of authenticity.

UK delivery is £5.50 (Royal Mail Next Day Special Delivery, Signed For) and for the rest of the world is £15 (International Tracked Delivery).
