“With this landscape I set out to break down the colours in the sky (Shaded White) and remix them to create an early morning misty scene in which the landscape all seems to belong to one colour, getting paler or more translucent in the distance. It was an interesting combination of a very technical colour exercise, and an ambition to recreate a really serene, still atmosphere that is unique to being outdoors very early in the day. This one took a long time! It’s only ready when you can really imagine yourself in the scene.”

The Early Morning, painted directly onto the Farrow and Ball paint swatch for Shaded White, is an original miniature painting by Rachel Spelling. The painting is 2cm x 3cm and it is served on a strip of 12 beautiful colours from the iconic Farrow & Ball colour card, which measures 7.4cm x 21cm. It is sold unframed.

This miniature is signed and dated on the back and it will be accompanied by a signed and embossed certificate of authenticity.
