I’m excited to announce that I’ve opened up the option to commission a painted colour chart! Since I started this project I’ve been inundated with requests for commissions. I put them all on hold for a while, because I really wanted to build up my own visual language with the work, and see where that led me. I basically just needed to take a moment to draw breath and develop the work, and find a way to scale it up while still being able to work slowly and meticulously. I’m really happy to say I think I’ve now found the perfect solution!

If you’ve been following this project for a while you’ll know that I have a range of paintings called The Greatest Hits. These are paintings where the subject and colour combination just sing, and I paint them more than once. I have now developed a Greatest Hit painting for every strip of colour on the Farrow and Ball colour card (in some cases there are two), and this means that I can paint a limited number of colour cards to order! There will be twelve paintings in total - one Greatest Hit on each strip - and a unique, surprise painting on the last strip of the chart. These paintings sell out really quickly when I have an Originals sale, so this is a rare chance to secure every single one, painted just for you and all onto one spectacular chart. Your walls will collapse from beauty!

I would be in touch with you along the way to let you know about progress, and where possible I can adapt the piece to be more personal - for example, if there’s a colour which is of special significance to you I might be able to move a painting onto that colour. It will not be possible to paint different subjects, however, as I’ve fine-tuned this combination of paintings over two years and it works as sequence, like a piece of music.
It’s a really slow job to make one of these - and the jeopardy that builds up as I go along is off the scale, because if I make a mistake in one painting I have to start all over again… Because of this I will limit the number of commissions I take on each year, and I will need at least four weeks to complete each one. The piece is sold unframed and measures 21cm x 91cm.

The Greatest Hits paintings are as follows: The Seagull on New White or The Paint Pot on String, The Airmail Letter on Old White, The Lips on Oxford Stone, The Victoria Sponge on French Gray, The Tux or The Single on Paean Black, The Eye on Pink Ground, The Bubbles on Preference Red, The Small Bird on Card Room Green, The Tennis Ball on Yeabridge Green, The Park on Borrowed Light and The World on Railings. On two of the colour strips there is a choice of two Greatest Hits paintings; these are The Seagull / The Paint Pot, and The Single / The Tux. Over time I will develop two options for each strip, and we’d be in conversation about which ones to include on your piece.
