Introducing The Greens! 24 miniatures painted by me onto the green section of the iconic Farrow and Ball colour card in Spring 2021. Printed onto beautiful museum-grade paper and signed, dated and embossed. Wrapped with love and care from my studio in South East London, and ready to be posted anywhere in the world.

This print is part of a family of four. In 2021 I worked backwards through the Farrow and Ball colour card. During the long, dark January of 2021 I started painting the blues. I finished them in March and they’re available as a sumptuous print here. As the green shoots of Spring started to appear, I painted the greens. I finished them in May and here they are! During the Summer I painted the joyous Reds, and as Autumn rolled in I painted the quiet neutrals. There’s now a set of four glorious new prints, spanning right across the colours and the seasons and indirectly documenting the strange year we shared.

I loved painting The Greens. I got totally lost in this beautiful colour, which has so many varieties, each with its own atmosphere. Some of the paintings are of things I started to see around me, and some just mysteriously arrived in my head. I think they are half memories, ideas from a dream or things I glimpsed in the background of a film. The Zoom Cat happened while I was painting this section - so of course I had to find a place for him! And sometimes they’re just a little exercise in colour - a quiet process of trying to understand each green’s particular tone of voice, and the feeling it gives you when you look at it.

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

All of the Four Season prints are the same size (A4) and all printed onto the same sumptuous paper, so they'd be fabulous together, but stand alone just as well. And they’re a standard size this time, so framing is a breeze. You can see a couple of framing options here. Above The Blues and The Greens are hanging side by side in happy dialogue, in a 30cm x 40cm frame from everybody’s favourite Swedish store. And below they’re in two natural wood A4 frames. Blue and yellow wild flowers can of course be brought in anytime to join in the colour party.

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

These paintings aren’t a literal diary or record of each season. They are more about an atmosphere or a feeling which accompanies a time of day or season or colour or place. I really let my mind roam free when I’m choosing what to paint, and sometimes I’m surprised myself by what comes out. Amongst flashes of happiness and sadness there is plenty of randomness, as well as the plain, everyday thoughts and experiences which seem to be such a big part of life! I’d like the general air of mystery and suggestion in the paintings to be a licence for people to build their own stories around them. There are literally thousands of possible readings, and I love it when people tell me what they see and it’s something that has never crossed my mind.
